Meet our 2025 Astronaut Scholar
Cadet Jasmine Franklin (CHEM ’26) is a junior pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry, a B.A. in Modern Languages (concentration in Spanish), and a minor in Fine Arts. From Belton, SC, she currently holds leadership positions within the 1842 Scholar’s Program, Fine Arts Club, Women’s Rugby Team, and the corps. In the chemistry department, she is working with Dr. Do on research focused on the green synthesis of heterocyclic molecules with potential bioactive properties. Jasmine is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and has been honored to receive Dean’s List, Gold Stars, Commandant’s List, and President’s List during her cadet career thus far. She is a member of the 2025 AstronautScholars Class and The Citadel’s first recipient of the AstronautScholarship Foundation Scholarship.

To apply for the Astronaut Scholars Program, please review the eligibility requirements and contact your department head or one of the members of the Selection Committee.


There are four items required for the application, due by 7 MAR by 5:00pm. They can be uploaded here. Simply Click on “Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships” in the dropdown and upload your documents.

- Curriculum vitae or resume
- Nomination letter from a faculty member
- One additional letter of recommendation.
- If selected as a finalist, transcripts as well as evidence of citizenship will be required.
