Competition
Indoor Passing League is a Tier Two event. Sign-up is required. Companies that miss the sign-up deadline will not be scheduled to play. Athletic skills and physical fitness may be required.
Roster
All students are eligible to play. The desired roster size is six players, with four offensive and three defensive players on the court. Three players are required to avoid a forfeit. Before the start of play, one player from each team is designated as the team captain.
Rules
Start time is forfeit time; there is no grace period for players arriving late. One game forfeit disqualifies a team from further play.
A mouthpiece is strongly recommended. Shirts must be tucked into shorts.
Games are played in two 12-minute halves (running clock) with a 3-minute break between halves.
If the game ends in a tie, each team will have four downs to score, with the line of scrimmage starting at midcourt. Play will continue until one team scores and the other does not.
At the start of each half and after a score, play begins on the opposing team’s goal line.
Teams have four downs to score. Punts will be thrown (not kicked) and must be announced to the opponent. On punts, one player on the receiving team must be on the line of scrimmage.
A touchdown is worth six points. If a female scores a touchdown, the point value is nine. A safety scores two points.
| The Ball | Points Awarded |
|---|---|
| Hits the backboard | 1 |
| Hits the upright | 2 |
| Goes between the uprights | 3 |
| Goes in the basket | 6 |
The quarterback cannot advance the ball past the line of scrimmage, and rushing is not allowed.
The quarterback must pass within five seconds of the snap, and receivers may advance the ball until they are tagged.
Players do not wear flag belts. Instead, a one-hand touch between the waist and the shoulders signals a dead ball.
Defensive players may not hold, push, or knock an offensive player down.
Walls, ceilings, and backboards (except for extra points and field goals) are out of bounds.
Teams may substitute players before the ball is set for the next down.
Offensive pass interference results in a loss of down; defensive pass interference results in a replay of the previous down. Picks and screens are not allowed and result in loss of down.
