Welcome to the 2025 – 2026 school year. Please review Team Briefing for updates to the Club Sports Program.
Members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets rely on volunteer advisors, instructors, coaches, and team assistants in the ICRA Club Sports program. We are pleased to welcome these volunteers. Please review our policies for coaches and volunteers before joining a team.
- Support the mission of educating and developing principled leaders in all areas of life. Advisors, coaches, instructors, and team assistants should focus on instruction and serving as models of principled leadership. Since ICRA Club Sports are primarily student organizations, team captains and players should have the opportunity to coordinate activities with your guidance and, with permission, make decisions independently.
- Please review and adhere to all Citadel policies, including the college’s hazing policy, conduct guidelines in The White Book (Chapter 4: Cadet Support Services), the Commandant’s Disciplinary Restrictions for Clubs and Club Sports, and the Procurement Department’s policies on purchases.
- Review and support Player Packet requirements for all players.
- Help ensure that the Code of Conduct is adhered to, including during practices, competitions, travel, and other club functions.
- Encourage routine team activities, such as field preparation, submitting forms, and meetings, to be managed by team captains and players.
- Participation in ICRA Club Sports is voluntary. No monetary awards or other compensation may be promised or provided to players or prospective players.
- Advisors, coaches, instructors, and team assistants must be recommended by team captains, reviewed by the Director of Club Sports, and approved by Human Resources. As members of The Citadel Student Affairs Team, all participants are supervised by the Executive Director of Student Affairs and Academic Services or their designee.
- Advisors, coaches, instructors, and team assistants are not permitted to use The Citadel’s equipment for private off-campus activities. Similarly, use of Citadel facilities for personal purposes is only permitted if covered by a contractual agreement with the Office of Events Management.
- Avoid using college, team, or participant resources for activities that fall outside the team’s stated purpose, as outlined in its constitution and bylaws.
- All team activities should involve opponents who are 18 years or older. Community service activities are allowed, but must adhere to the policies of the Center for Protection of Minors on Campus.
- Consider obtaining personal medical and liability insurance.
- At the beginning of each academic year, update your Coaching Packet. If you need assistance, we are happy to help.
