The inaugural exhibit, Behind the Lines: Combat Art and The Citadel Experience features the work of eight acclaimed combat artists hosted on campus by The Citadel’s Fine Arts Program over the past year, some of whom will join us at the preview.
During their residencies, the exhibiting artists applied their experience with combat art to life at The Citadel. Each artist spent time observing and engaging with cadets, creating artwork that reflects their impressions of life on campus. The drawings and paintings portray iconic moments—from drill practice to morning runs to haircuts—that together capture a sense of what it looks like to uphold The Citadel’s core values of honor, duty, and respect each day.
