Kaitlyn Hatchew, a Junior in Papa Company, is from Mableton, Georgia. She is pursing majors in Physics and Intelligence & Security Studies with minors in Aerospace Science and Philosophy. Kaitlyn is President of the Trident Society: Naval ROTC Auxiliary, Vice President of Turbela Verborum: The Citadel’s English Club, Vice President of the Calliopean Society: The Citadel’s Debate Society, and Treasurer for the Society of Physics Students. Kaitlyn is an Honors Program and Distinguished Scholar student. Her research focus is in Cultural and Agricultural Changes in Post Soviet countries. Kaitlyn is a Navy ROTC four–year scholarship recipient and a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
Last year Kaitlyn competed in the national Army Star competition. Her team’s project “Flywheels for Energy Storage” won first place. In 2024, she presented her research on fractals and their application at the Southern Regional Honors Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.
She is also a student pilot and enjoys giving back to the community by working with FEMA as an aerial photographer and leading search and rescue teams for civilian auxiliary of the Air Force. Kaitlyn intends to pursue a career in Naval Aviation upon commissioning after graduation.
