If you are looking for the most recent news and information about a current tropical storm or hurricane threatening the South Carolina Coast and how The Citadel is responding, please go to BulldogAlert.
The Atlantic Hurricane Seasons runs from June 1 to November 30 each year.
The Citadel’s mission in the event of a hurricane expected to make landfall in or near the Charleston area is to take all actions necessary to prevent the loss of life and to minimize damage to property, equipment, utility systems and facilities. In the aftermath of a storm, the college turns its attention to recovery operations and restoring essential services so the campus can return to normal operations.
The safety of cadets, students, faculty and staff are of the utmost importance. Each summer, members of The Citadel staff conduct hurricane drills so they are prepared for tropical storms or hurricanes. In addition, the college has a detailed Hurricane Operations Plan which outlines preparations and how information will be communicated to cadets, students, parents, faculty and staff and the greater Charleston community.
