The department of public safety works to provide a safe environment for the entire campus community. Public safety is committed to meeting the needs of all students, faculty and staff by providing service and protection to the campus.
Campus community members are encouraged to report any crime or unusual or suspicious activity to the department of public safety.
The mission of public safety is to plan, program and provide for any law enforcement and security services necessary to ensure the safety and security of all persons and property on The Citadel campus, or otherwise under the jurisdiction of The Citadel. The Department of Public Safety operates under the enforcement of laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and procedures promulgated by the state of South Carolina, The County and City of Charleston, and The Citadel. Public safety is also available to provide other public services upon request.
In addition, The Citadel Department of Public Safety is responsible for initial management and coordination of all crisis management situations occurring on The Citadel's property or otherwise under the jurisdiction of The Citadel.
