Disability Services
The Angela W. Williams Student Success Center/Services for Students with Disabilities (SSC) mission is to create an accessible and inclusive environment for all students at The Citadel. Our primary objective is to provide everyone with equal access to campus programs and activities.
The office helps students with learning, physical, health, or psychiatric disabilities manage the varying demands of the Citadel experience. We recognize that students with disabilities face the same challenges as every student, plus the challenges that relate to the impact of their disability. Because of this, we partner with faculty and staff to foster an inclusive environment.
In addition to serving students, the staff helps the Citadel community make programs, services, and activities accessible to everyone. The SSC provides services and academic accommodations for all students with documented disabilities. Please choose a category on the navigation bar for more information.
Core Values
- Human variation is natural and vital in the development of dynamic communities.
- Using academic success support is essential for all students.
- Our entire community is responsible for supporting and creating an inclusive environment.
- A diverse and engaging community is a shared responsibility; we consider disability as diversity.

Application Process
Students requesting reasonable accommodations and/or services must submit documentation of a disabling condition to verify eligibility. Students are required to submit documentation regarding the diagnosis/diagnoses that demonstrate a disability covered under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 as amended (2008).
Please review our Documentation Guidelines for additional information. All documentation is kept confidential.
Steps to Register with SSD
The student seeking accommodations should complete the application and not a parent or guardian.
Complete the application
Submit Documentation in Portal
After submitting the application, the student can schedule a meeting to discuss accommodations, procedures, and services. Appointments may be scheduled by emailing disabilityservices@citadel.edu. While documentation isn’t required to schedule the meeting, we encourage students to submit it as soon as possible.
Please review our Documentation Guidelines for more information.
Meet with Disability Services
After the meeting, students approved for accommodations will have access to AIM, our Disability Case Management System. From there, the student can request that their accommodation letter be emailed to their faculty. You do not have to re-register with our office each semester, but students must request that their accommodation letters be sent to their faculty each semester in which they are enrolled through the AIM Student Portal.
Students should communicate via email or in person with their instructors to discuss the arrangements for receiving accommodations. Instructors do not have to provide accommodations if students do not promptly inform them of their need.
