Cadet pursues numbers research

Cadet Zih-Syun Fu is pursuing research with Interim Department Head and Professor of Mathematics Antara Mukherjee and Associate Professor Breeanne Swart. Fu is finding formulas within a triangle to determine a pattern using Fibonacci numbers. The sophomore cadet from Taiwan, a double major in psychology and math, became interested in number patterns emerging from a triangular array when she saw a poster depicting the triangle on the third floor of Thompson Hall. After listening to a presentation on the topic, she decided to delve deeper into the subject. Now, she hopes to present her research in the spring. Fu credits her professors for their guidance in her research. “I’ve learned a lot from them,” said Fu. “I learned to look at numbers from a different point of view and that inspired me.”
