Life-Threatening Emergencies
For any fire, medical emergency, or situation involving an immediate threat to life or safety:
Call 911 immediately.
After contacting emergency responders, notify Public Safety at (843) 953-5114.
Facilities & Engineering Emergencies
Contact Facilities & Engineering immediately when a facility-related issue poses a safety risk or may result in property damage if not addressed promptly.
Examples include:
- Fire
- Flooding from burst pipes or backed-up drainage systems
- Electrical shorts or hazards
- Significant roof or window leaks
- Major utility failures
- Any situation where immediate repairs are needed to prevent additional damage

Non-Emergency Maintenance Issues
Examples of non-emergency issues include:
- Burned-out lights
- Minor plumbing problems that do not cause overflow
- Plumbing fixtures that are out of service when alternate facilities are available
- Non-functioning air conditioning
- Routine maintenance requests
Non-emergency issues should be submitted through the normal work order process.
Environmental Health & Safety Notifications
Notify Environmental Health & Safety immediately if:
- A fire occurs on campus requiring firefighting equipment or fire department response.
- A hazardous material incident occurs.
- Property damage exceeds $1,000.
- An incident results in serious injury, EMS transport, or death.
