The Continuity of Instruction Plan (COIP) explains how teaching and learning continue if classes are disrupted by a hurricane, pandemic, natural disaster, unsafe campus conditions, or a Canvas outage or cybersecurity incident.

- Steps to prepare before an emergency, including a faculty checklist
- Campus and technology alerts, and where to get help
- Required syllabus language for emergencies and Canvas outages
- Collecting student contact information and backing up course materials
- Communicating with students and delivering course content during a closure
- Assignment due dates when students shelter in place or evacuate
- What to do during a Canvas outage, including alternative ways to give final exams and submit grades
- Continuing laboratory classes at a distance
- Related policies, including withdrawals, deadline extensions, and exam proctoring
