Career Planning Timeline

Freshman: 

Explore: Take the Sigi3 assessment and review What Can I Do With This Major? 

Prepare: Create resume, formulate career plan, get involved in student organizations, and volunteer

Engage: Search for a summer job and/or internship and attend The Citadel Career Center Career Fair

Sophomore:

Explore: Review career goals and research career options with Zippia

Prepare: Update resume with The Career Center, begin networking on LinkedIn and conduct Informational Interviews

Engage: Search for a summer job and/or internship, attend The Citadel Career Center Career Fair

Junior:

Explore: Continue to explore and research career options

Prepare: Update resume with The Career Center, create a general cover letter and reference page, develop job search strategy and/or narrow graduate school search, and practice interviewing

Engage: Search for a summer job and/or internship (or internship for academic credit) and attend The Citadel Career Center Career Fair

Senior:

Prepare: Update resume, cover letter, and reference page with The Career Center and practice interview skills with InterviewStream

Engage: Engage in a full-time job search/apply for graduate school (and take entrance exams), attend The Citadel Career Center Career Fair, and evaluate offers and follow-up

We recommend students and recent alumni create and actively use Handshakeour platform for talent recruiting, networking, jobs and internships, and on-campus recruiting!

Undergraduate students need to Log in using their Lesesne Gateway ID and password. Graduate students and alumni need to create an account by selecting "Sign up for new account," choose "student/alumnus," and follow the prompts. Accounts are approved during business hours Monday - Friday.
