Visiting The Citadel
|The Office of Admissions hosts Virtual Info Sessions and Daily (M-F) Campus Visits for prospective cadets. Applicants are encouraged to register for an Inside the Gates visit. High School groups are also welcome to participate in virtual visits as well.|
Virtual Info Sessions are live events with an Admission Officer that are 30-45 minutes in length. Prospective students can use their phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
Virtual sessions use the free Zoom video conferencing application (or ZOOM Cloud Meetings app at your smartphone marketplace). NOTE: Participation spots in the session you choose may be limited. If the date and time you select is not available, we will help you find another date and time (close to your original selection) that works for you.

|Daily Campus Visits: The Office of Admissions offers in-person visits Monday - Friday at 10:15 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. (EST). Daily visits are a chance for prospective students and their families to participate in a group information presentation and Q/A session (approx. 45 minutes) followed by a guided tour of The Citadel campus (approx. 45 - 60 minutes). The total visit time is typically less than two hours.|

Inside the Gates. These are on-campus, in-person visit programs open to students who have applied for admission to The Citadel for the fall of 2022 (academic acceptance is not required). Each visit occurs on a Friday and is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of The Citadel. Students and parents have the opportunity to learn more about the the following aspects of the cadet lifestyle:
Each event begins with registration at 0900 (9:00 a.m.), and scheduled events wrap up following a cadet-guided tour of The Citadel campus. On most Fridays, the Corps of Cadets presents a weekly dress parade at 1545 (3:45 p.m.), for which visitors are welcome to stay. Use the links below to register for Inside the Gates.
Friday, 3 December (no parade)
Note: Spring events will be announced at a later date.
Pre-Knob Overnight Visits. Under normal circumstances, the Pre-Knob Program serves as a rare opportunity for a non-cadet to observe the cadet lifestyle firsthand. In addition to receiving a Knob host, Pre-Knobs spend the night in the barracks, eat in the Mess Hall, and attend classes.
Parents usually also receive a special orientation program geared specifically toward future knob parents (information on academics, financial aid, cadet lifestyle, etc.).
Eligibility. Fall Pre-Knob events: Open to any one who has applied for admission (acceptance is not required). Spring Pre-Knob events: Reserved for accepted applicants.
Unfortunately, as a result of COVID-19, the Office of Admissions is not currently expecting to host any overnight visit programs. In place of the Pre-Knob Program, applicants are encouraged to consider particpating in an Inside the Gates visit.
High School Group Visits: Student groups are welcome to request a weekday Virtual Info Session. Such events include a short information presentation prior to a Q&A session with a current cadet. To arrange a virtual visit for your high school group, please contact Major Jeff Price in the Office of Admissions.
