The Angela W. Williams Student Success Center
The Student Success Center (SSC) was established in 1984. The Writing Center, as it was then known, had a staff of three. Since then, many more services and staff members have been added and support now extends far beyond the English department.
Our Mission: The SSC empowers students to excel academically and personally by providing inclusive support services, individualized coaching, and skill-building resources that foster resilience, accountability, autonomy, and timely degree completion in a safe and welcoming learning environment.
Our Vision: The SSC’s vision is to ensure that all students experience a supportive community where they can develop skills, confidence, and independence to succeed and complete their academic and personal goals
The SSC is located on the first floor of Thompson Hall. It provides academic support to all Citadel students, both undergraduate and graduate, through the following programs:

- Mathematics Lab (opens in a new tab)
- Services for Students with Disabilities (opens in a new tab)
- Subject-Area Tutoring (opens in a new tab)
- Writing Lab (opens in a new tab)
The staff is comprised of professional tutors, graduate assistants, undergraduate students, and full-time personnel. Visit the Appointments (opens in a new tab) page to set up an appointment. Individual tutorials in writing for academic projects across the curriculum are offered by the SSC. Individual and group subject-area tutorials are also available in most academic areas, including but not limited to Mathematics, Sciences, Modern Language, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, and Nursing.
