Political Science Hosts Biennial Symposium on Southern Politics
The Department of Political Science hosted the biennial Citadel Symposium on Southern Politics on March 6-7. This year’s program welcomed more than 70 scholars from across the country and abroad.
The symposium featured 13 panels of scholarly presentations on various aspects of Southern politics, including two panels devoted to undergraduate research.
The symposium was founded in 1978 by professors Bob Steed, Tod A. Baker and Larry Moreland. This year marked 48 years since the symposium’s founding. In 2004, Professor of Political Science DuBose Kapeluck, Ph.D., joined as co-director. Assistant Professor of Political Science Mark Owens, Ph.D., became co-director in 2023.
