- EDUC 101: Education in Modern Society
 - EDUC 202: Educational Psychology
 
Required course in student development (3 credit hours)
One of the following courses:
- EDUC 206: Adolescent Development
 - EDUC 307: Child Development
 
Required courses in pedagogy (6 credit hours)
Two of the following courses:
- EDUC 301: Foundations in Literacy
 - EDUC 306: Teaching Literacy and Language in the Content Areas
 - EDUC 312: Learners with Exceptionalities
 - EDUC 330: Developing Leadership Skills through Peer Counseling
 - EDUC 401: Methods and Materials of Middle and High School Teaching
