Spring Break Immersion: Cadets Learn About the Cuban Economy
Professor Emeritus Bill Trumbull led a group that included 11 cadets, two former MBA students, Dean Mike Weeks, and Professors Wes Jones and Russell Sobel to Cuba over spring break.
For cadets, the trip was an integral part of Econ 402: The Cuban Economy, a course that examines and contrasts the economic institutions of capitalism and socialism. The opportunity to study these systems in the classroom, then observe a socialist economy firsthand, created a powerful and immersive learning experience.
This marks the seventh time that Trumbull has taught the course at The Citadel. For cadets who attended, the trip was not just an educational experience, but an unforgettable journey that gave them a broader view of the world.
