Advising is a partnership where students take the lead in shaping academic, career, and life goals, supported by their team of dedicated advisors. Guided by our mission of Advising Tomorrow’s Principled Leaders, our campus-wide advising network helps foster success both in and out of the classroom.

Primary Advisor
Faculty or professional staff advisors within each department provide guidance on course selection, career paths, and available support resources. Regular meetings are encouraged with designated planning sessions held each semester prior to registration.

Advising Facilitators
Advising Facilitators play a pivotal role in enhancing the advising experience for students and advisors. Serving as the school’s advising expert, they support student engagement and success, making sure advising is clear, consistent, and impactful.

TAC Officers
Each battalion and company TAC Officer (Teach, Advise, Coach), a retired or reserve military officer, supports cadets in leadership, discipline, and daily cadet life. They’re also here to advise and mentor students, complementing advising in each of the schools.

Company and Battalion Advisor
Each company and battalion is assigned a faculty or staff member who mentors and coaches the unit’s academic officer and NCO in their mission to support the academic success of all cadets in their unit. Cadets should contact their academic officer or NCO for academic assistance in the barracks. For questions about the company advising program contact Academic Affairs.

Office of Student Affairs
Professional advisors support students and advisors across campus. Students who may benefit from frequent advising, in-depth academic planning, SAP appeals, or access to additional resources are encouraged to connect early by contacting studentaffairs@citadel.edu.

Pre-Professional Advisors
Pre-Professional Advisors provide counseling and guidance to all students interested in attending law or medical school. Reach out early to plan ahead, fulfill requirements, and prepare strong applications.

Athletic Advisors
The Athletic Academic Services Program supports athletes in balancing their academic responsibilities with athletic participation. They provide guidance on course planning, academic progress, and time management while coordinating with coaches and faculty to ensure athletes stay on track in both the classroom and their sport.
