Accreditation

The Citadel is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, and specialist in education degrees. Normal inquiries about the institution, such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed directly to The Citadel and not to the Commission’s office. The Commission should be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support a significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard.

The undergraduate and graduate degree programs of Teacher Education, Counselor Education, Literacy Education and Educational Leadership have been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). All School of Education programs in education have been approved by the South Carolina Department of Education using the guidelines of the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification as modified for use in South Carolina. The Counselor Education program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The Citadel holds membership in the Association of State Colleges and Universities and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

The School of Business Administration at The Citadel is accredited by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

The School Psychology Program is fully accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists. The Clinical Counseling program is accredited by the Masters in Psychology Accreditation Council.

The Computer Science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. The Civil Engineering program and the Electrical Engineering program are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
