Absence Insights: What You Need to Know
Cadets with an unexcused absence will receive cons. If a cadet believes the absence should be excused, they must submit timely and verifiable documentation (such as a medical note or official letter) for review.
First Things First: Speak to Your TAC Officer!
Before anything else, speak to your TAC Officer so they are aware of the situation and can help you figure out a plan. Just because the absence was entered in the system as unexcused, doesn’t mean that your TAC Officer is fully aware of the circumstances.
If you are unable to resolve this with your Company or Battalion TAC…
Student Affairs may be able to help. To support your case, please provide any documentation that verifies your absence(s), such as:
- Off-campus medical provider paperwork
- Clinical paperwork
- Emails to/from instructors, TAC Officers, Title IX Office
- Any other relevant materials that may help your case
Once you have supporting documentation…
Option 1: Drop in to the Office of Student Affairs in Bond Hall 369
- Bring any/all documentation that verifies your absence(s)
- Please note: you are not guaranteed to be seen immediately
Option 2: Schedule a 15-minute appointment with an advisor in Bond Hall 369
- CSI students will work with LTC Hayden Clement | Bond Hall 369C
- All other students will work with Nathan Stillings | Bond Hall 369D
Please be aware of potentially unexcused absences…
- Slept through class
- Self-diagnosed medical issues (e.g. put self on bed rest)
- Guard duty
- Running errands for rank duties
- Planning to drop a class but process was not completed (you must continue going to class until the process is complete)
