Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center
The Truth Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Center brokers mutually transformative, generative, and edifying relationships between The Citadel and Charleston community.
The Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Campus Center collaborates with organizational members and community partners to make The Citadel an inclusive institution that seeks, welcomes, develops, values and benefits its internal and external stakeholders to create and sustain a campus climate of inclusive excellence in which all members have equal access to intellectual, educational, career, developmental, and social capital. Second, the TRHT facilitates the collective vision of a local community in which leadership positions reflect the diversity of citizens. Finally, the TRHT supports institutional efforts to address, transcend, and critically examine racial dynamics and inequalities by connecting people to each other’s stories, thereby interrupting dominant narratives which problematize differences and race specifically.
TRHT Campus Center Goals
The TRHT Center supports The Citadel's continuous evolution by creating a forum in which diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders can connect and further our mutual commitment to understanding and eradicating racism at The Citadel and in the Charleston Community.
The TRHT will collaborate across campus to support curricular and co-curricular efforts to celebrate and educate about individuals from various racioethnic groups who contributed to academic disciplines and military endeavors.
The TRHT will co-sponsor events with other campus entities that value diversity, inclusion, cross-racial dialogue, and deeper mutually beneficial community partnerships.
The TRHT will ensure that internal and external stakeholders know about the Center’s existence, purpose, and contributions to The Citadel’s mission to achieve academic and inclusive excellence.
