Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center

Vision

The Citadel’s Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Center envisions a campus community where principled leadership is displayed through a culture of inclusivity where all members of our community understand our collective history and know that they belong and are valued.

Mission

The mission of The Citadel's Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Center is to promote an inclusive institutional narrative through historical research and public history projects, while building a sense of belonging for all members of our community and cultivating diverse relationships through facilitated dialogue sessions.

TRHT Campus Center Goals

  1. Increase awareness and understanding of The Citadel’s TRHT Center
  2. Promote an inclusive institutional narrative that enhances our understanding of our collective history
  3. Provide opportunities to establish a sense of belonging for all members of our community
  4. Offer CitListen sessions for members of our campus and community

CitListen sessions are designed to bring groups of people together in a comfortable space to encourage the sharing of personal stories and the act of deep listening. Sessions are guided by trained facilitators who lead participants through a series of questions that invite the sharing of personal experiences and reflections. CitListen sessions allow individuals with different backgrounds and life experiences to find those connections that reinforce their common humanity.
