March New Faculty Spotlight
Samantha Williams joins the Swain Department of Nursing as lead instructor for maternal and newborn nursing. Williams grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire, before moving to Charleston in 2019. She worked as a registered nurse for 12 years, the last six as a nurse practitioner in labor and delivery.
In 2024, Williams began her teaching career in the Swain Department of Nursing as an adjunct clinical instructor. She loved it and, when a full-time role opened, jumped at the opportunity.
“The part of teaching I’ve loved the most,” Williams said, “is seeing a student experience a new nursing skill. I’ve loved watching a student come out of a patient room excited that they finally performed a skill they’d only practiced in lab or simulation.”
Outside the classroom, Williams has a five-year plan that includes visiting Greece, where she hopes to immerse herself in another culture.
