Who is the Applied History M.A. program for?

How is the program delivered?
The Applied History M.A. program is fully online, but unlike typical online programs, it offers live, synchronous sessions. Students participate in real-time discussions and collaborations with both faculty and peers. Classes help to create an interactive and community-driven learning environment.
What are the admission requirements?
To apply, you need to complete an online graduate application and submit official transcripts. A GPA above 2.5 and 15 credit hours in history are is required, though provisional admission is possible for those below these thresholds. Additionally, you must submit a 300-600-word application essay and two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a former professor or employer who can speak to your ability to succeed in the program.
What kind of projects can I work on in this program?
Students will create an original historical project that aligns with their interests and/or career goals. Project ideas may include museum exhibits, deep genealogy research, digital projects, websites and educational programming. The program’s flexibility allows students to explore history in ways.
Can I pursue this program part-time or while working full-time?
Yes, the program is designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate working professionals. The online, synchronous nature of the classes allows students from anywhere to balance their studies with work and other responsibilities. Synchronous classes will be offered in the evenings.
How long does the program take to complete?
The program length can vary depending on whether you are studying part-time or full-time, but it generally takes 2-3 years to complete. Students work with academic advisors to create a personalized program of study that fits their schedule.

Do I have to take the GRE to be accepted into this program?
The Citadel Graduate College no longer requires entrance exam scores as part of student applications.
