The Strength and Conditioning B.S. Degree Completion Program is designed for students who have completed prior college course work and wish to complete their bachelor’s degree online at The Citadel. Whether you are transferring from a technical college, community college, four-year institution, or returning to complete your degree, this program provides a flexible pathway into strength and conditioning. This program prepares you to develop and enhance athletic performance in a variety of settings, including:

About the Program
The Strength and Conditioning B.S. Degree Completion Program prepares students to improve performance in athletic and tactical populations through the application of exercise science, coaching, and leadership principles. Students develop the knowledge and practical skills necessary to assess performance, design evidence-based training programs, and effectively coach athletes and tactical personnel.
As a Senior Military College, The Citadel offers a unique perspective on both athletic and tactical performance, preparing graduates to work with athletes, military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other physically demanding professions.
The program is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as an Educationally Recognized Program (ERP), reflecting alignment with professional standards in strength and conditioning education.

Pathway to Your Degree
The program includes 122 hours of coursework. Thirty one to thirty four (31-34) of these hours are dedicated to general education. Sixty (60) of these hours are applied towards major coursework, and the remaining thirty (30) hours are available for elective courses. Elective courses can be used to learn additional skills in the areas of strength and conditioning, psychology, sports management, business, and leadership.
Students complete coursework in exercise physiology, biomechanics, athlete assessment, coaching, strength and conditioning, sport nutrition, leadership, and performance monitoring. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates to evaluate performance, design evidence-based training programs, and effectively coach athletic and tactical populations
As a degree completion program, the total number of credits you will need to complete at The Citadel depends upon the college coursework you have already earned. Many students enter the program with an associate degree or substantial transfer credit, allowing them to focus primarily on upper-level strength and conditioning coursework. We will work with you to map out the exact number of credits required to complete your B.S. Degree in Strength and Conditioning.
Admission Requirements
- Completion of the online evening undergraduate application.
- Submission of all official transcripts from regionally accredited colleges or universities attended. Courses with a grade of C or higher will be considered for transfer to The Citadel. All transcripts must be received in order for the application to be completed and reviewed.
