Welcome to the Cadet Host Family Program
We appreciate your interest in taking part in the Cadet Host Family Program. Our program is intended to improve cadets’ quality of life by providing our international and out-of-state cadets a means to connect with vetted, local, volunteer families that will provide them with a place to go to during times of general leave maybe furlough. Host families provide a “home away from home” for cadets in need. Most of the cadets requesting sponsors will be first year cadets (freshmen) but international students from all classes may also request sponsors. Those cadets who live the greatest distance from The Citadel are given priority. Cadets with unique challenges may be considered to take part in the program.
Locals Interested in Hosting a Cadet
As a host family you are “adopting” cadets and coaching them through their Citadel career. This is an opportunity to give back to a young person far from home, introduce them to Charleston and teach them about life. Please read each link below. Your application will be evaluated for the current academic year.

Cadets Interested in a Host Family
As a cadet at The Citadel, you are provided with the unique opportunity to be paired with a local host family. Host families are those in the Charleston area who voluntarily open their homes to provide a ‘home away from home’ for International or out of state cadets during their years at The Citadel.
