Physical Readiness Program
The Citadel’s Physical Readiness Program (CPRP) is modeled after the various branches of the United States Military Physical Readiness Division. The Physical Readiness Program Director is responsible for the establishment of an effective and efficient program that supports the Fitness pillar of the Citadel’s Principled Leader Development Model.
The CPRP is designed to encourage every cadet to develop the mindset to optimize individual health in order to improve academic and leadership performance. Cadets are expected to display and encourage a commitment to the principles of physical fitness as they relate to leadership.
Therefore, Cadets are expected to maintain the minimum levels of physical fitness – all four years– in order to be considered a Principled Leader. Citadel Cadets are screened for physical proficiency each semester, and failure to meet both the physical fitness and body composition standards will result in structured Remediation Training led by the Physical Readiness Program Director and Senior Cadet Athletic Officers.
