Lt Col Robert A. Sberna

Lieutenant Colonel Sberna currently serves Deputy Assistant Commandant for Discipline. He started employment at The Citadel in August 1998 as the Third Battalion Tactical Officer, The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. In the fall of 2004 Lt Col Sberna went on to be the First Battalion Tactical Officer until August of 2008 when he moved to Cadet Activities as the Director and in July of 2010 became the Deputy Assistant Commandant for Discipline.
Lieutenant Colonel Sberna entered the Air Force in May 1976 through the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps programs at The Citadel. He received the Lenzi Trophy for outstanding performance in the simulator and the “Outstanding Student Award” for overall superior performance at undergraduate navigator training. He was selected to test the T-39 companion trainer aircraft for Strategic Air Command B-52 crews. A Master Navigator, he has logged more than 2200 flying hours in T-37, T-43, T-39, B-52, and FB-111A aircraft and has served at the Chief of the Central Flight Instructor Course in FB-11A’s. He has served as the senior arms control and policy analyst in Strategic Air Command and Air Combat Command working arms control and treaty compliance issues instrumental to national security. He culminated his career as the Deputy Commander of the 4th Support Group at Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina.
