Forrest is the Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Chair in Management and Ethics and a Professor of Practice in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship. His instruction includes Advanced Business Analytics and Business Ethics to Baker School of Business undergraduates at The Citadel. Previously, his specialty was on Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. He brings a practitioner’s perspective into the classroom connecting research and theory to real-world events and policies equipping students with the tools to make a thoughtful analytical assessment of both quantitative & qualitative factors. Through a disciplined approach, they can formulate conclusions, opinions, and recommendations grounded in sound fundamentals within the appropriate context. Forrest incorporates lectures, technology-driven exercises, the case method and experiential learning into his instruction.
Additionally, Forrest is the Director of the Baker Business School Coaching (Mentoring) Program and also oversees the School of Business’ Leadership Day. With more than twenty-five years of experience as a professional research analyst, portfolio manager and chief investment officer, Forrest brings insights and tangible skills acquired at some of the most prominent and highly regarded global investment management firms in the industry. Additionally, he has studied finance, political economy, and behavioral science from some of the leading luminaries in academia, business and government.
Forrest earned a Masters degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, a Masters degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Vanderbilt University. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) for more than twenty years. In addition to having been an entrepreneur & small-business owner/investor, Forrest has held senior positions of leadership and governance in both the public service and non-profit sectors, serving as a publicly elected town official and non-profit board member.
