The William D. Ford Direct Loan Program provides students the opportunity to borrow money to help pay for college. The low-interest Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized student loans are an option after filing FAFSA.
Federal Regulations require that all first time borrowers complete Entrance Counseling prior to the disbursement of their Direct Student Loan. Entrance Counseling will provide students with the rights and responsibilities of the borrowing process as well as repayment options. This counseling will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Instructions to complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling
Step 1 Go to www.studentloans.gov
Step 2 Click the ‘LOG IN’ button on the right side. (Your FSAID and password are required. If you have forgotten your FSAID, you may request a duplicate at https://fsaid.ed.gov )
Step 3 Select ‘Complete Loan Counseling’
Step 4 Select “Entrance Counseling’
Step 5 Enter the School Information (Make sure to select "The Citadel" listed under "T" not "C").
Step 6 Select "Student Type" (Undergraduate or Graduate students).
Step 7 Begin the 5 step process to complete the counseling (Each step has a tutorial and quiz)

- Finances: A Priority
Step 8 When complete and submitted you should receive a on screen and email confirmation.
