Graduate Students

Important News:

  • NEW!!!  Beginning with the 2014-15 academic year, graduate and professional students will need to be enrolled in a minimum of 4.5 credit hours, during a semester, instead of 3 hours to reach half-time status.

The definition of half-time status is important in two ways for financial aid purposes:

    • 1. Students must be registered at least half-time to be eligible for federal financial aid (student loans), and

    • 2. Students must be registered at least half-time to qualify for an in-school deferment on their prior federal student loans.

  • Periodically check your Lesesne Gateway account to review charges and the status of your financial aid.
  • The 2014-15 FAFSA is available online and must be completed for the 2014-15 academic year. The 2015-16 FAFSA opens on January 01, 2015, and must be completed for the 2015-16 academic year.

Annual FAFSA Application

Graduate students must complete or renew the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - (FAFSA) each year to qualify for federal loan programs. The FAFSA application opens on January 01 for the upcoming academic year. For the 2014-2015 academic year, you can file the FAFSA online using the Citadel School Code #003423 at fafsa.ed.gov.fafsa_code

First-Time Direct Loan Student Borrowers:

Graduate Assistantships are available in many college departments. The Citadel Human Resources Department recruits graduate assistants and matches candidates with positions. Please file your application with the Human Resources Department.

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarships are available through The Citadel School of Science and Mathematics, jointly with the School of Education, and are full scholarships funded by the National Science Foundation for students enrolled in STEM teacher preparation degree programs.

The South Carolina Teacher Loan may be a good option for you if you are a student completing your initial teaching certification or a professional changing careers in order to teach.
