Sergeant Major Andrew L. Yagle entered the Marine Corps in July 1979, and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

Assignments in the operating forces include: Motor vehicle operator Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC; Operator and Line NCO Marine Service Support Group 34 Landing Force Sixth Fleet, Camp Lejeune, NC; Section Leader,Wing Transportation Squadron, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan; Platoon Sergeant Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC; Motor Transport Operations Chief, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 2d Marine Division, while assigned was attached with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit; Truckmaster and later First Sergeant, Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2D Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC; First Sergeant, Fox Company, 2d Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC, while assigned was deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit; SgtMaj, 26th MEU, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Assignments in the supporting establishments include: Drill Instructor, Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina; Inspector/Instructor duty; Wing Transportation Squadron-47, Detachment Bravo, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Senior Drill Instructor, Series Gunnery Sergeant, and Instructor, Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina; Sergeant Major, Recruiting Station, Albany NY; Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island, SC.

Sergeant Major Yagle’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars and combat “V” and Combat Action Ribbon.
