The sport management program's mission is to educate and cultivate strong-minded leaders to master sport for positive changes in our modern society.
Our mission aligns with the core values of health, integrity, leadership, respect, and service. The program advances the educa¬tion for our students through the continuous pursuit of teaching, research, and service. Our program's innovative curriculum leads students to the acquisition of skills, knowledge, and competence for graduate-level education and leadership positions in professions of the global sport industry, such as interscholastic and intercollegiate athletics, recreation, amateur, and professional sport organizations.
The Department of Health and Human Performance also offers a Minor in Sport Management.
The minor in sport management is designed to provide a student the opportunity to learn about the unique role of sport in the society, and to assist them in developing management skills in a wide range of the sport operations, such as sport events, facility management, administration and leadership abilities in sport organizations.

By completing the minor in sport management, students will acquire the essential knowledge and build the practical skills required for a competitive career in the business of sport. Examples of future career opportunities include interscholastic and intercollegiate athletics, amateur, and professional sport organizations.
