HOW TO JOIN

In general, full time students at The Citadel with at least three years left in their bachelor's degree studies are eligible to join our program.

College Freshman: Register for our Freshmen AFROTC academic class (Fall - AERO 101 / Spring AERO 102) and our Leadership Laboratory (AERO 450). You'll complete enrollment paperwork during your AERO 450 Lead Lab. 

College Sophomore: Register for our Sophomore AFROTC academic class (Fall - AERO 201 / Spring AERO 202) and our Leadership Laboratory (AERO 450). You'll complete enrollment paperwork during your AERO 450 Lead Lab.

*If you are joining our program as a sophomore, please make an appointment with a cadre member to determine your academic plan and commissioning timeline. In general, we require three full years to commission through our program.

SCHOLARSHIPS

AFROTC offers the following scholarship types:

Type 1 - Full tuition & fees 

Type 2 - Covers up to $18,000 in tuition & fees

Type 7 - Full in-state tuition & fees (out of state students can convert this to 3-yr Type 2)

High School Scholarship Program (HSSP): High School seniores may compete by completing an online application at afrotc.com, and must submit application by January of their senior year of high school.

Selection based on: GPA, SAT/ACT, Fitness Assessment, extra-curricular activities, AFROTC Interview, and desired academic major

In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP): AFROTC offers two- to three-year scholarships to college students in all majors. All eligible cadets in our program are automatically competed each semester starting Spring semester of Freshmen Year until they go to Field Training (cadets usually attend FT summer between sophomore and junior year). 

Selection based on: College GPA, Fitness Assessment, Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT), and Commander's Ranking
