Dr. Tracey Honeycutt Sigler is a distinguished academic leader and organizational behavior scholar currently serving as the inaugural Dean of the Krause School of Leadership and Ethics. She previously served as Full Professor and Department Head of Leadership Studies at The Citadel where she engaged in administration, research, teaching and executive education, all components in the new school. She was most recently recognized as the 2025 recipient of The Citadel’s Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and previously honored as the Krause Center Emerging Community-Engaged Faculty. With a strong foundation in organizational behavior, she earned her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, following her MBA and Bachelor of Science in Business from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Her career reflects a seamless integration of rigorous scholarship and a deep commitment to leadership education, student development, and institutional advancement.
Before stepping into academic administration at The Citadel, Dr. Sigler built a distinguished record as a department chair and faculty member at Northern Kentucky University and as a faculty member teaching at Western Washington University. Her classroom instruction has spanned organizational behavior, leadership, organizational change, and teamwork and conflict management, delivered across both online and in-person formats, to undergraduate, graduate, and executive audiences. Throughout her teaching career, she has been recognized for her ability to translate organizational and leadership theory into practical, real-world skill, reflecting her enduring dedication to the craft of teaching and developing leaders.
Dr. Sigler’s research portfolio is both broad and impactful, spanning leadership development, management education, women in leadership, emotional intelligence training, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Her focus on leadership development is evident in her publications on ethical leadership development, emotional intelligence, organizational change, team leadership. Research on service-learning is also well represented in publications on graduate education and service learning, Reflection, enhancing learning through service-learning, and service-learning as a tool for collaborating with community. She has published case studies providing teaching resources widely used in business and leadership curricula. Her commitment to leadership education led her to serve as Associate Editor for the Management Teaching Review, and the Journal of Management Education.
A dedicated servant to her school and profession, Dr. Sigler is a certified facilitator for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Emotional and Social Intelligence Inventory (ESCI) and the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). She has served on multiple school committees and searches, often serving as chair, and held the position of Assistant Dean for Assessment for a three year term. Her consulting background, working directly with individual leaders and businesses across the regions where she has worked, further grounds her academic work in real-world leadership practice.
In her current role as the founding Dean of the Krause School of Leadership and Ethics, Dr. Sigler brings decades of experience in leadership education, curriculum development, and organizational scholarship to bear on building The Citadel’s newest school. Her career exemplifies the highest standards of academic leadership and service, and she continues to inspire principled, ethical leaders among the Corps of Cadets, graduate students, and professionals through her teaching, scholarship, and unwavering commitment to leadership development.
