Krause School of Leadership and Ethics
Welcome to the Krause School of Leadership and Ethics! We develop principled leaders through academic, co-curricular, and professional programs for the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, The Citadel Graduate College, and for executives and professionals interested in becoming more effective leaders.
We are a hub for enhancing principled leadership education, research and scholarly work, and executive and professional education across campus disciplines, schools, and programs. Academics, ethical reasoning, and real-world experience come together to build both knowledge and character in principled leaders. Regardless of major or field of study, our cadets and students emerge as sharper problem-solvers, ethical decision makers, strategists, and team builders prepared to take on difficult leadership challenges with an agile, technology-driven education.
The School is made up of three units:
- The Department of Leadership Studies — the academic unit offering leadership courses to the Corps of Cadets and leadership programs for graduate students.
- The Krause Center for Leadership Development — providing leadership development and community service-learning opportunities.
- Executive and Professional Development — presenting leadership training for professionals across the region, state, and country.
Our vision is to be the preeminent school of leadership in the United States, with a distinct curriculum — grounded in the core tenets of The Citadel — that educates and develops principled leaders.
The Krause School takes seriously the responsibility of preparing people to lead ethically in business, government, nonprofits, the military, medicine, and beyond. The Leadership Studies faculty bring the scholarly rigor and teaching expertise necessary to make theory come to life. Staff in the Krause Center bring a passion for creating the conditions under which students develop honor and leadership skills, including service opportunities that connect students with their communities. Experts on our executive and professional development team offer research-based, hands-on learning that applies immediately to the workplace, whether through our standard programs, custom training, or a combination built around your goals.
We expect our students to leave us with better questions, sharper judgment, and the practiced habit of doing the right thing, even when it’s costly, unpopular, or hard to discern.
Whether you’re a prospective cadet, graduate student, or organization looking to develop your people, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us to see how we can help you become the principled leader the world needs.
With warm regards,
