Affiliations
The Honors Program’s goal is to cultivate student creativity, self-confidence, leadership, academic excellence and a life-long passion for learning. The Citadel’s Honors Program affiliations foster such growth in our students. The affiliations include the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) and the Southern Regional Honors Council (SRHC). These programs support advocacy, research, and professional development.
NCHC
The NCHC is the leading honors organization in higher education with members across the globe. Membership in the NCHC provides support for curriculum development, teaching innovation, national and international study opportunities, internships, and mentored research.
NCHC’s mission is to support and enhance the community of educational institutions and professionals. Along with students who participate in collegiate honors education around the world.
SRHC
The Southern Regional Honors Council (SRHC) promotes and advances Honors Programs and Honors Colleges in the Southern United States. One way they do this is by providing a variety of grants. Members can also submit work to the Sanctuary, which is the official literary arts journal of the SRHC.
Every spring semester (usually in March or April), freshmen in The Citadel Honors Program are eligible to attend the annual conference of the SRHC (pictures below). Upperclassmen may participate as well, making presentations at the conference.
