Reservations
For groups desiring to rent The Citadel Beach Club for an upcoming event:
- External groups – please submit an Event Inquiry Form
- Internal groups – please submit an EMS Request
Submission does not guarantee permission for use of The Citadel Beach Club. Please wait for a confirmation email or phone call from the Office of Event Management.
Beach
Lifeguards are not provided. Guests swim at their own risk.
Animals
Pets are not permitted inside The Citadel Beach Club or on the property. All service animals are welcome!
Venue Access
The Citadel faculty, staff, students, CAA Lifetime Members, and donors at specific levels for The Citadel Foundation and The Citadel Brigadier Foundation are allowed access to the beach walkway, boat ramp, and dock area. This access cannot be blocked, regardless of the rental event booked.
Rental, beach, and boating groups are expected to act with mutual respect and any issues should be promptly reported to the Office of Event Management.
Glassware
Glassware may only be used inside The Citadel Beach Club. Breakable items (i.e. ceramic, china) are not allowed on the patio, lawn, courtyard, or pavilion. A fee will be charged per instance of broken glass.
Decorations
Nothing can be stapled, nailed, taped (i.e. scotch tape, command strips), or glued to the walls of The Citadel Beach Club. Rice, sparklers, flower petals, birdseed, confetti, fog machines, and open flames are not allowed.
All rental items, decorations, and personal items must be removed after the event.
Tables and Chairs
Standard banquet tables and chairs are included with the rental of The Citadel Beach Club. But approved for indoor use only.
Tables and chairs will be set per the floor plan approved by the client. Any requests or changes made on the days of the event could result in overtime setup fees.
Additional indoor and/or outdoor furniture can be rented through an outside equipment company.
Security
Security is required for all events with alcohol beverage service. Please Contact Us to arrange for security!
A minimum of one officer per 100 guests is required. Officers must be scheduled from the start of the event until 30 minutes after the event ends. Additional security may be required for larger events or events deemed by The Citadel to be high risk. All security arrangements must be provided at least 2 weeks before the event. Failure to confirm arrangements in advance or schedule officers for the full-time required may result in additional fees.
Food and Beverage
All food and beverage (including alcohol) must be provided by The Citadel’s foodservice contractor. Please Contact Us for catering information!
Exceptions may be made only upon written approval by the Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services, or his/her designee, and coordinated through the Office of Event Management.
- If approved, outside caterers must pay an impact fee.
- If approved, mobile food vehicles must pass The Citadel Fire Marshal’s inspection.
For food safety reasons, all catered items are for onsite consumption at the time of service and cannot be taken after the event.
Alcoholic beverages may not be served to minors or anyone appearing to be intoxicated. Alcohol may not be taken beyond the Swain Boating Center property. Failure to secure catering and bar services by The Citadel’s foodservice contractor (or approved outside caterer/mobile food vehicle) and pay for their services by their payment terms will result in cancellation without refund.
Smoking
The use of tobacco and smoking products of any type is prohibited. This applies to the entire property, indoors and outdoors, of The Citadel Beach Club.
Guests in violation of this policy may be removed and barred from the property. Violation of this policy may result in additional fees and/or termination of the event.
Parking
All vehicles must be removed after the event. Vehicles that remain on The Citadel Beach Club property without permission from the Office of Event Management are subject to ticketing at owner’s expense.
Rental Time
Standard rentals include 7 hours. This time can be extended, with prior notice and payment.
Vendors and guests are not allowed on The Citadel Beach Club property before or after the contracted rental time. Overtime charges will be billed to the client.
Deliveries
Deliveries and pickups must occur during the contracted rental time, unless approved in advance by The Citadel.
Ceremony
Wedding ceremonies performed on the grounds of The Citadel Beach Club allow an additional hour of rental time and 90 minutes for a rehearsal. Rehearsal times will be scheduled based on availability and confirmed 30 days before the event.
A ceremony fee is accessed for this service.
Noise Ordinance
The City of Isle of Palms noise ordinance is strictly enforced: quiet is required from Sunday through Thursday from 10pm – 10am and Friday and Saturday from 11pm – 10am.
A violation of these requirements may subject the client, vendors, and guests to a fine and court costs. The Citadel reserves the right to end events prior to the contracted end time in the case of warnings or violations.
Weather
Rentals are confirmed rain or shine.
Should hazardous weather occur, The Citadel reserves the right to mandate taking shelter, stop alcoholic beverage service, and/or terminate music until weather is deemed no longer a threat, or require quests to evacuate.
Events may be cancelled upon receipt of a National Weather Service advisory indicating a potential threat to the South Carolina coast. In the extreme case of cancellation by The Citadel, due to a weather emergency, all efforts will be made to reschedule the event.
If there are any indications of potential weather threats, the Office of Event Management will stay in contact with the client in the days leading up to the event.
Vendors
All vendors providing services are required to possess a business license and proper insurance coverage. This vendor information must be on file with The Citadel at least 2 weeks before your event.

Any special requirements for vendors and tenting or inflatable details (if applicable) must be submitted for approval by the Office of Event Management at least 2 weeks before your event.
Cancellation
A signed contract and receipt of a non-refundable rental deposit confirms your event date.
There is a fee to change the date after the rental contract is signed.
