Women in the Corps of Cadets
Twenty twenty-four marks an important milestone for The Citadel — 25 years of women graduating from the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. In 1995, the first woman joined the Corps of Cadets, and since then, women have continuously shattered barriers, leaving a lasting mark of excellence. Female cadets have excelled as athletes, leaders, and scholars, with significant milestones such as the appointment of the first female regimental commander in 2018. Today, women make up 13% of the Corps, holding key leadership roles and excelling in various fields, fully integrating into The Citadel’s campus life and history.

Safia Karimi is pursuing a degree in Intelligence and Security Studies after her upbringing in Pakistan helped shaped her unique perspective in this field. She has earned placements on the Dean's List and received Gold Star awards. Karimi is the President of the Skydiving Club.
Cari Staples is a Mechanical Engineering major from Charleston, South Carolina. She is an Army contract and has been on the Dean's List and Commandant's List multiple times. Staples is also a member of The Citadel's Sailing Club. 
Cadet Karessa Hill is a junior from Greenville, South Carolina. Hill is an Intelligence and Security Studies major who is pursuing a contract with the Marine Corps.
