Women in the Corps of Cadets
Twenty twenty-four marks an important milestone for The Citadel — 25 years of women graduating from the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. In 1995, the first woman joined the Corps of Cadets, and since then, women have continuously shattered barriers, leaving a lasting mark of excellence. Female cadets have excelled as athletes, leaders, and scholars, with significant milestones such as the appointment of the first female regimental commander in 2018. Today, women make up 13% of the Corps, holding key leadership roles and excelling in various fields, fully integrating into The Citadel’s campus life and history.
