Below is information pertaining to the 2024 – 2025 academic year executive board member elections.
Who is eligible to serve on the executive board?
- Be a Veteran or Active Duty student enrolled in courses at The Citadel,
- The role of President must be filled by a Veteran Day Student,
- Must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 2.7 or higher, and
- Can not have any negative demerits or behavioral issues concerning their personal conduct on school grounds or while attending The Citadel or CSVA functions.
What are the roles of each position on the executive board?
Executive board positions include President, Vice President of Programs and Member Development, Vice President of Recruitment and Member Engagement, Vice President of Finance and Fundraising, and Vice President of Communications and Marketing.

What is the term of the executive board?
The executive board member serves May 6 – May 5* of the academic calendar year.
*The exact dates will depend on the day of Spring graduation, per the academic calendar.
What is the mission of The Citadel Student Veterans Association (CSVA)?
The CSVA’s mission is to provide American active duty military personnel, American military reserve and National Guard personnel, veterans, and their families with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education; to build a rapport and strengthen relationships with The Citadel’s administration, cadets, and alumni to further cement student veterans into The Citadel’s Culture.
How much time will I have to devote to being a board member?
Board members are very active in the CSVA management, they devote anywhere between 2-3 hours each week on their role. They also attend all board meetings (1st Friday of the month at 2:15 PM) and meet with their Veteran Student Success Center Advisor (Melissa West mwest5@citadel.edu) on a bi-weekly basis.
Are there other roles besides executive board members?
Yes!! We have several committees, all students are encouraged to participate in, including Fundraising and Finance, Member Recruitment and Engagement, and the Policy Committee. If you are interested in joining any of these committees, please fill out this form.
How can online students participate in the SVA?
All CSVA meetings are streamed online using Zoom and will be available on the webpage following the meeting. We are also in the process of planning online mixers and events to cater to our online student population.
