Bill Prillaman
Central Intelligence Agency (RET)
Bill Prillaman is a retired senior officer with a 34-year career at the Central Intelligence Agency. He was part of a four-person team leading the Directorate of Analysis, a group of several thousand intelligence analysts worldwide. Prior to that he spent eight years as chief and executive reviewer of the President’s Daily Brief. He also served as a speechwriter for CIA’s leadership team and morning intelligence briefer for the Secretary of Defense. He began his career as an analyst on Latin America.
Bill holds a Ph.D. and B.A. from the University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree from Tulane University. In retirement he is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and George Mason University and a consultant to several US and European political risk firms.
He is the author of The Judiciary and Democratic Decay in Latin America (2000); Crime, Democracy, and Development in Latin America (2003); and a contributor to Legal Systems of the World: A Political, Social, and Cultural Encyclopedia (2002). His work has also appeared in publications such as the Washington Times, National Review, Proceedings, and Intelligence and National Security.
