There is a separate group for undergraduates and for graduate students. One student per department (for each group) will be nominated by the department head; nominees should be academically in good standing and have already expressed an interest in serving on the Dean\u2019s Circle. He is a recipient of the Department of Defense Cyber Service Academy Scholarship and will be working within the Department of Defense upon graduation. Jack is also a member of The Citadel Department of Defense Cyber Institute and engages in department research regarding the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure. Jack is a member of the cyber club and routinely represents The Citadel during competitions as a member of the cyber team. He also regularly volunteers in mentoring a local high school\u2019s Cyber Patriot team. She is currently pursuing a B.S. in Nursing from The Swain Department of Nursing. She is a recipient of the 4 year national Army Scholarship and will commission into the Army as a second lieutenant upon graduation. After graduation, she plans to pursue secondary education with getting a Master&#8217;s degree in nursing. She has been a recipient of Dean&#8217;s List multiple times in her time as a cadet. She is a member of multiple campus organizations, including The Citadel&#8217;s Gospel Choir. Torres is a Philadelphia native and active-duty member of the United States Air Force with over seven years of service. He has been deployed to the Middle East and previously served in Montana as a nuclear security forces specialist. Currently, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, with a focused interest in critical care and ICU nursing. He plans to apply to graduate school and pursue a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics. His career goal is to become a statistical consultant while also teaching statistics. In addition to his academic work, Manning serves as the Charlie Company Academic NCO for the 2025\u20132026 academic year. In this role, he provides cadets in Charlie Company with resources to maintain positive academic standing while balancing the demands of cadet and personal life. He expresses gratitude to the Citadel Mathematics Department for their continual support and for helping him reach this stage in his academic journey. He was awarded the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship out of high school and now studies biology at The Citadel. He was named the most outstanding freshman biology major for the 2022-23 school year and plans to attend medical or dental school after graduation. He is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-health club on campus and serves as the 2nd Battalion Academic NCO. From Belton, SC, she currently holds leadership positions within the 1842 Scholar&#8217;s Program, Fine Arts Club, Women&#8217;s Rugby Team, and the corps. In the chemistry department, she is working with Dr. Do on research focused on the green synthesis of heterocyclic molecules with potential bioactive properties. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi academic honor society. Roy also has competed in the University Physics Competition, an international contest for undergraduate students. After graduation, David has plans of attending medical school and is still deciding what specialty he wants to pursue. This past summer, David had the opportunity to spend a month in Nairobi, Kenya, where he and others set up a free medical camp providing care to over 11,000 patients in seventeen days. On campus, David is active in many different organizations, giving time to the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-health Honors Society, Reformed Christian Fellowship, The Citadel Honors Program, The Citadel Distinguished Scholar Program, and a member of the Junior Sword Arch. She earned her Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Exercise and Sports Science, with a minor in Psychology, from Coastal Carolina University in 2022, graduating magna cum laude. Subsequently, she obtained a certificate in Massage Therapy from Horry Georgetown Technical College in 2023. As a licensed massage therapist, she specializes in Ashiatsu deep tissue massage. Hannah is now pursuing her Master&#8217;s degree at this university to further her education, engage in research, and follow her passion for overall health and wellness. As a cadet in Hotel Company, he served as the Academic Officer during his senior year, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to academic excellence.&nbsp; Currently, Dalton is pursuing a Master\u2019s in Computer and Information Sciences at The Citadel. In addition to his studies, he works for the Department of the Navy in Cyber Security, where he applies his expertise to secure critical information systems. Dalton also contributes to the academic community at The Citadel as a Graduate Assistant, supporting a freshman lab class and guiding new cadets in their learning experiences. Hannah is now pursuing her Master&#8217;s degree at this university to further her education, engage in research, and follow her passion for overall health and wellness. This past summer, David had the opportunity to spend a month in Nairobi, Kenya, where he and others set up a free medical camp providing care to over 11,000 patients in seventeen days. On campus, David is active in many different organizations, giving time to the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-health Honors Society, Reformed Christian Fellowship, The Citadel Honors Program, The Citadel Distinguished Scholar Program, and a member of the Junior Sword Arch. For the last two and a half years, he has worked as a surgical ICU patient care technician and student nurse extern at Roper St. Francis Hospital and Ralph H. He has been the recipient of Dean&#8217;s List and gold starts throughout the tenure of his cadet career. Hunter will be inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nurses and was previously recognized as outstanding junior nursing student for his class. He participates part time as a tutor for undergraduate nursing subjects in the Student Success Center. Originating from Blythewood, SC Trey is now a M.S Computer and Information Sciences Cyber Security Concentration student working in Industry while assisting the Citadel under the Department of Defense Cyber Institute as the Cyber Technical Support Manager. In addition to this Trey has recently been commissioned into the SC State Guard under the G-2 Cyber and Intel Unit as a Cyber Forensic Analyst. She continued her soccer and academic career at The Citadel, leading the team as a captain in 2023, and plans to graduate with her MAT in Physical Education this May. While at The Citadel, Grace served as a GA to Dr. Sacko in the Health and Human Performance Department, assisting with research primarily on motor skill performance and assessment, cadet physical fitness, and energy expenditure. He has received Dean\u2019s List every semester, and Gold stars 5 out of the 6 full semesters since attending the Citadel. Cadet Forrest is part of Chi Alpha Sigma Honors society as well as Sigma Theta Tau for my academic achievements. He is a nursing major and have been nominated Nursing Student of the Year two years in a row. He recently researched Mathematical Models for COVID-19. The following is an excerpt from his research brief: The COVID-19 Pandemic has been felt across the world. The virus has left us with many questions regarding the effectiveness of social distancing and lockdown orders along with the growth of the virus. Through this project, we attempt to understand these questions in two parts: (1) Develop periodic mathematical models using the data reported in the southeastern region: NC, SC, TN, GA, and FL to determine the effectiveness of social distancing protocols in these states. In addition, he is a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Pre-Health Society, and The Citadel Eagle Scout Association. Hunter is currently doing research focused on ant behavior in the local area. Hunter intends to take graduate classes next year to obtain a Master\u2019s degree in Biology at The Citadel by his fifth year. He is also an alumnus of the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, CA, where he studied Iraqi Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). Luke served in the Navy for eight years, during which time he deployed aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in 2016. He has received numerous military awards, including 4 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, 2 Good Conduct Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Award. Originating from Blythewood, SC Trey is now a M.S Computer and Information Sciences Cyber Security Concentration student working in Industry while assisting the Citadel under the Department of Defense Cyber Institute as the Cyber Technical Support Manager. In addition to this Trey has recently been commissioned into the SC State Guard under the G-2 Cyber and Intel Unit as a Cyber Forensic Analyst. Jaret is the Health-Human Performance representative for the Swain School of Math and Science and is also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honors Society. He serves as the Sierra Company Commander this year, and as the President of the Association of the United States Army. He is the recipient of multiple gold stars and deans\u2019 lists, as well as a member of the President\u2019s List and Commandant\u2019s Distinguished Service List.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaret is the recipient of the Department of the Army\u2019s Superior Cadet Decoration, and The Citadel\u2019s Colonel Harvey M. Following training, he reported to his first submarine, USS Hampton, in 2008 and served for 5 years completing 2 deployments in 2 different theaters. After this, he returned to Charleston to serve as an Instructor in chemistry, materials, and radiological fundamentals at the Naval Nuclear Power School. He was selected for the Navy&#8217;s STA-21 program, and reported to the Citadel in 2014 to complete his degree in chemistry. In 2006 Alfonso enlisted into the Air Force as a C-17 Loadmaster spending eight years on active duty, bringing him to JB Charleston. He is now serving as a reservist in the 701st Airlift Squadron while pursuing his undergraduate degree in Sport Management. He has been a Gold Star and Dean\u2019s list recipient during his time at The Citadel. Actively involved on campus, he serves as President of the Student Veterans Association and the Vice President of the HESS major\u2019s board. Alfonso currently officiates Men\u2019s NCAA Division II basketball and serves on the Medal of Honor Bowl committee. Upon graduation, Alfonso aspires to work in professional sports. He is a member of the Honors Program. He is a member of the Regimental Band and Pipes and also serves as Regimental Supply Officer on campus. He is a six-time Dean\u2019s List recipient and received a one-time nomination to President\u2019s List. He spent the past two years working with Dr. Robert Clark in the ExCitAtIon (Experiments at The Citadel on Atoms and Ions) Group on campus. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This past summer he worked with Dr. Ken Brown at Georgia Institute of Technology in the Brown Lab Group, aiding in the design and construction of a laser frequency-stabilizing optical system for use with their ion traps. Dylan plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology for Graduate School in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics following graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Graduate Students<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Charlye Marger Christie (BIO)<\/strong> earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in International Business and Italian at the College of Charleston in 2009. Later at the Citadel, she received her first Master&#8217;s in Health, Exercise, and Sport Science. Charleston currently works as a research specialist at the MUSC Center for Oral Health Research as she completes her MA in Biology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Justin Weir (HESS)<\/strong> is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated from The University of South Carolina in 2014, with a degree in political science. He currently is working as an intern with the Charleston Battery soccer team, and is working towards his Masters in Sport Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rachel Graves (MAT)<\/strong> has a Bachelor&#8217;s of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina. She graduated from USC in 2011 and began teaching at First Baptist School in 2012. Rachel is currently in her third year teaching Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 at FBS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thomas Lee (MS Computer Science)<\/strong> is a 20-year Air Force veteran. Enlisting in 1995, Thomas\u2019 career began as a B-52 mechanic at Barksdale AFB, LA. After deployments for Operations Southern Watch and Allied Force, Thomas sought work in the private sector with jet engine manufacturer Pratt &amp; Whitney in Connecticut. Soon after, however, he found his way back to the Air Force as a reservist and full-time civil servant at Charleston AFB serving as a mechanic on the C-17. Shortly after arriving at Charleston, Thomas received orders to return to active duty and deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Before his tour ended, Thomas&#8217;s travels took him to dozens of countries spread out over five continents. Along the way Thomas completed an AS in Aviation Technology and BS in IT\u2014all while amassing seven years on active duty and eight years in the civil service. When his last tour ended, he spent six years as a network administrator for the Air Force and as a private IT consultant in the Charleston area. In 2011 Thomas brought his skills to SPAWAR where he currently specializes in Cyber Security. Thomas is working toward an MS in Computer Science at The Citadel while continuing to serve in the Air Force Reserve at the rank of Senior Master Sargent at Joint Base Charleston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jennifer Clark (MAT)<\/strong>, a Noyce scholar, received her Bachelor of Art&#8217;s degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2012. She has lived in Charleston since then, and is excited to start her career at a local high school after graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Brendan Reilly (MA Exercise Science)<\/strong> is originally from Sumter, South Carolina, where his father was stationed at Shaw AFB. Brendan went to high school at Thomas Sumter Academy and graduated with a B.S. in Sport and Exercise Science from Coastal Carolina University in 2012. He worked in the hospitality industry for a couple years after graduating before pursuing a Master&#8217;s in Exercise Science here at the Citadel. Brendan plans on graduating in May of 2016. He is currently a GA with the remedial PT program at the Citadel and works with a co-op group with Roper St. Francis hospital as an exercise physiologist.
