{"id":3105,"date":"2024-04-17T10:43:03","date_gmt":"2024-04-17T14:43:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/ssm\/?page_id=3105"},"modified":"2024-05-01T13:23:28","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T17:23:28","slug":"cyber-operations-b-s","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/ssm\/cadet-programs\/cyber-operations-b-s\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyber Operations, B.S."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bachelor-of-science-in-cyber-operations-mission\">Bachelor of Science in Cyber Operations Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of the Bachelor of Science program in Cyber Operations is to develop the next generation of cyber leaders who can analyze the security of cyber systems, protect and defend cyber systems, and investigate different types of attacks and incidents in cyber systems in the industry, government, or military environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-program-objectives\">Program Objectives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduates of Bachelor of Science in Cyber Operations will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply security principles and practices to the design and implementation of the physical, software, and human components of the cyber systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyze and evaluate cyber systems concerning security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify, analyze, and mitigate threats in the cyber systems<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-plan-of-study\">Plan of Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The course of study leading to the B.S. with a major in cyber operations includes 12 hours of electives; 17 hours of core mathematics and statistics:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MATH 131,&nbsp;MATH 132,&nbsp;MATH 206,&nbsp;MATH 302,&nbsp;STAT 261; and 52 hours of required courses in computer science and cyber operations:&nbsp;CSCI 201,&nbsp;CSCI 202,&nbsp;CSCI 211,&nbsp;CSCI 223,&nbsp;CSCI 227,&nbsp;CSCI 305,&nbsp;CSCI 317,&nbsp;CSCI 320,&nbsp;CSCI 327,&nbsp;CSCI 405,&nbsp;CSCI 408,&nbsp;CSCI 409,&nbsp;CSCI 410,&nbsp;CSCI 411,&nbsp;CSCI 427,&nbsp;ELEC 311,&nbsp;ELEC 330, and one of&nbsp;CSCI 421&nbsp;or&nbsp;CSCI 499; and 3 hours of Approved Cyber Elective selected from&nbsp;CRMJ 331,&nbsp;CRMJ 392,&nbsp;CSCI 490. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, general education requirements for a selected strand, as well as physical education, modern language, and laboratory science, must be completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>&nbsp;<\/td><td>Fall<\/td><td>&nbsp;<\/td><td>Spring<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Freshman<\/td><td>CSCI 201<\/td><td>Introduction to<br>Computer Science I<\/td><td>3<\/td><td>CSCI 202<\/td><td>Introduction to<br>Computer Science II<\/td><td>3<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&nbsp;<\/td><td>CSCI 211<\/td><td>Intro to Computer Science I Lab<\/td><td>1<\/td><td>M.
