{"id":3094,"date":"2024-04-17T10:04:55","date_gmt":"2024-04-17T14:04:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/ssm\/?page_id=3094"},"modified":"2024-05-01T15:50:19","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T19:50:19","slug":"computer-science-b-s","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/ssm\/cadet-programs\/computer-science-b-s\/","title":{"rendered":"Computer Science, B.S."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bachelor-of-science-in-computer-science\">Bachelor of Science in Computer Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Citadel&#8217;s B.S. program in computer science offers the student a sound foundation in the degree complemented by a broad core of courses in the sciences and liberal arts, a background in mathematics that has sufficient breadth and depth to enable the student to deal with scientific applications as well as the theoretical basis of computer science, and an exposure to computer hardware (microprocessors) through courses offered by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, ELEC 311 (Digital Logic and Circuits) and ELEC 330 (Digital Systems Engineering). Through electives, the student will have the opportunity to gain background in many areas where the information processing aspects of computer science are readily applied. The Citadel&#8217;s Computer Science, B.S. program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abet.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">http:\/\/www.abet.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-plan-of-study\">Plan of Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The course of study leading to the B.S. with a major in computer science includes 18 hours of electives;
