Laura Sagmiller, The Citadel

Laura Sagmiller received her B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Citadel in 2008. She followed this with an MBA from the University of South Carolina in 2013. Ms. Sagmiller distinguished herself academically during her time at The Citadel, earning Dean’s List and Gold Star recognition numerous times. It is therefore no surprise that Ms. Sagmiller served as Tango Company’s Academic Officer. Ms. Sagmiller also participated as a Track & Field Athlete.

Ms. Sagmiller has 5 years of experience in structural engineering. Her experience is comprised of assignments related to the Energy & Chemicals, Government Contracting, Nuclear, Mining & Metals, Pulp & Paper, Power, and Steel Industries. Experience includes structural analysis, steel design, concrete design, finite element design, vibration analysis, and foundation design. She also has field experience in Bagram, Afghanistan utilizing process improvements and gap analysis.

Ms. Sagmiller’s first professional experience was as an Engineering Intern for US Steel Corporation where she was able to hone skills that would serve her well in her career. She worked for three years as an Associate Design Engineer with Fluor in Greenville, SC. She was involved in a number of projects in the US and abroad. Amongst other projects, she mapped out logistic support activities for the US Army in Afghanistan, worked on various design and development projects for a 12 billion dollar nuclear plant in Texas, and contributed to a large project in Pilbara, Western Australia. Currently she works as a Structural Engineer with Jacobs on a number of projects in various locations.

Ms. Sagmiller is married to a Citadel alumnus, Daniel Sagmiller of Romeo Co. The couple is expecting their first child (baby girl) July 1.
