Rock the Block provides alternatives
an alcohol-free alternative
[@tb]In an effort to curtail drinking among Lowcountry college students, the College Community Coalition will host the third annual Rock the Block, an alcohol-free party open to college students at no charge. The party will take place Sept. 24 on George Street at the College of Charleston in the block between Coming and St. Philip streets from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.[@te]
The College Community Coalition, which is made up of the Charleston Southern, the College of Charleston, The Citadel, and Trident Technical College, was founded to address the issue of underage drinking among college students and to promote alcohol and drug-free student activities.
The party will feature live music with Leslie, Owen Beverly and Evoka. There will be free food and non-alcoholic beverages, a rock climbing wall, a mechanical bull and prizes. Also contributing to the evening’s events are Aramark, Coca-Cola, Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health, the College of Charleston Bookstore and Cougar Activities Board.
