T. Darin Matthews, Ph.D.

Dr. Matthews is a Professor of Psychology and the Coordinator of Undergraduate Programs for the Department of Psychology. Dr. Matthews joined the faculty at The Citadel in 1994. He regularly teaches undergraduate courses in introductory, experimental, physiological, and cognitive psychology as well as both graduate and undergraduate courses in developmental psychology. He has occasionally taught classes in the history of psychology, as well.

Dr. Matthews' research interests include controlled and automatic processing of information during retrieval, problem solving, attention, intelligence, and intelligence testing. Recent research projects have focused on empirical validation of nonverbal tests of intelligence and comparisons of public coeducation with public single gender educational programs in middle school age children.

Dr. Matthews serves as advisor to the Psychology Club and coach for the Academic Bowl team.
