Principled Leadership Seminar
The Citadel’s emphasis on leadership is integrated into the CGC experience through the required Principled Leadership Seminar. This seminar is a graduation requirement for all graduate-level students. This non-credit bearing seminar gives students opportunity to receive initial leadership training in principled leadership and The Citadel core values. Additionally, upon completing this initial seminar, students may apply for additional leadership training, sponsored by the Global Ethics Institute. All leadership training on campus is conducted by the Department of Leadership Studies, which provides continuity and consistency in the content of the workshops across the campus as well as certifying that all students have been exposed to a discussion of Citadel values.
The leadership seminar is currently offered online each semester. To register for the seminar, please log in to Lesesne Gateway and click on the Student Tab. Under Registration Tools, click on the ‘Add or Drop Classes’ link, and select the appropriate term. Click on ‘Class Search’ and select subject of ‘Leadership’. Scroll to LDRS 500 and click ‘View Sections’. Check the select box and then click ‘Register’ at the bottom of the screen. The course requirements are available in Canvas and need to be completed prior to the end of the semester. If you have difficulty accessing the course or have questions about the course, reach out to the Citadel Graduate College at email@example.com.
LDRS 500, Principled Leadership Seminar, is organized into four main sections: Introduction (Pre-Test), Course Modules, Conclusion (Post-Test), and Darkness to Light, D2L. If you already have been trained as a Steward of Children in the past 5 years, the D2L section of LDRS 500 will direct you to upload your D2L certificate as proof of completion. Students needing to complete the D2L training through LDRS 500 will upload D2L certificates in order to receive a passing grade in LDRS 500. A passing grade in LDRS 500 indicates completion of two program requirements.
