Graduate Certificate in Technical Program Management

This program is offered on campus or online

The mission of the Technical Program Management (TPgM) graduate certificate program is to educate and prepare technical professionals to serve as program and portfolio managers and leaders. Students currently enrolled in the Technical Project Management (TPM) certificate program and Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM) program gain a solid understanding of technical project management. As they are promoted in their jobs, they also need specific knowledge of the management of multiple technical projects and programs. This certificate is well suited to support workforce development for working professionals employed in the military, manufacturing, defense contracting, information technology, and other complex industries in the Charleston area.

Required Courses:

  • PMGT 660: Overview of Technical Program Management (3 credit hours)
  • PMGT 661: The Legal and Contractual Aspects of Program Management (3 credit hours)
  • PMGT 662: Program Development Strategies and Processes (3 credit hours)
  • PMGT 685: Decision and Risk Analysis (3 credit hours)

Students may take the TPgM courses as a stand alone, 12 credit hour, graduate certificate, or may apply their TPgM courses as electives to the Master of Science in Project Management graduate degree. Students are required to complete 12 hours of graduate study within a two-year period from the time of registration in their first TPgM graduate course at The Citadel.
