America's Band 2015 - Regimental Pipe Band Competing in Jacksonville

Citadel Alumni and military music fans can see the world-famous Citadel Regimental Pipe Band in Jacksonville, Florida this weekend. It is a rare opportunity to see the pipers who are an instrumental part of the ONLY American band invited to represent the United States in this summer’s major military music event broadcast by the BBC to 100 million people in 30 countries around the world.

The Citadel Regimental Pipe Band will compete on Feb. 28 during the Northeast Florida Scottish Highland Games & Festival which will be held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 2497 State Road 16 in Green Cove Springs, Florida.

The entertaining competition includes other pipers from around the country, competing with The Citadel’s pipers who are part of America’s Band 2015, The Citadel Regimental Band and Pipes, chosen by an international committee to represent the United States in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in August 2015.

They will be led by Capt. Jim Dillahey, who is himself one of the most well-known pipers and instructors in America.  (Lower photo)
